The idea behind Sleepora came about in early 2011 when Neill Watson contacted an old work colleague about an idea he was thinking of developing. The friend he contacted was Anthony Barrett, an NLP Trainer, NLP Master Practitioner and NLP Master Coach.

Many of Anthony’s clients came to him looking to alleviate themselves from symptoms such as stress, anxiety and insomnia.

Neill has a background in content creation, technology and is an experienced audio producer having produced professional tracks for companies including Warner Music and Disney.  As MD of a content creation company with international projects, clients and a busy work schedule, Neill has also experienced sleep challenges in the past.

Bringing together the wealth of experience, Neill’s original idea has been developed further in collaboration with Anthony to help people who currently suffer from sleep deprivation and insomnia get back into balance with their normal sleep cycles. There were and are a number of key principles on which Sleepora is based:

  1.  Sorting out insomnia is not just something which should be addressed 5 minutes before you want to go to sleep.  Getting back into circadian rhythms is important to.
  2.  The mind affects the body and the body affects the mind (so looking to tackle the issue of insomnia without looking at both the mind and body is less effective.
  3.  People making behavioural change at the sub conscious (or unconscious) level is very important to long term relief from insomnia
  4.  Quality not quantity of sleep is the real key.  So reaching the deep level of sleep (delta stages) is fundamental as well as finding ways of reaching this level more often.
  5. Many approaches to treating insomnia take a one size fits all approach. We don’t adhere to this so Sleepora is designed to be flexible to accommodate different insomnia symptoms that people have.
  6. Our product is simple to use, easy to grasp so people can get the benefits as quickly as possible.
  7. E–health – where people can use technology to help them address their health concerns allowing flexibility to take guided responsibility for their own health and wellbeing. Bespoke technology/audio is built into the Sleepora system.

The original working title for Sleepora was ‘the 24hr cycle’ as both Neill and Anthony set about designing a product which had the flexibility of being used at any time of the day.  In other words bespoke exercises and content designed for different activities throughout the day.

The idea being that insomnia is caused by an accumulation of issues and thought processes throughout the day and not just before bedtime or when a person is trying to sleep. If you can tackle the problem at source during the day, as well as just before you try to go to sleep and during sleep, you have a much better chance of reducing and eliminating insomnia.

The key components of Sleepora are brain entrainment, Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) and neuroscience. Research over many years has proved brain entrainment is a safe way of reducing and helping to eliminate insomnia. NLP has been used successfully for nearly 40 years in treating tens of thousands of clients who have suffered from stress and anxiety.
